Well that stunk.

When you score 4 goals, you need to win that game.

When you carry a 1 goal lead into the 3rd period, you need to win that game.

This team could use another D-man that excels at transitioning out of the D-zone.

To many passes from the D-men are in the forwards skates or simply way off the mark.

Man, I do not know what I would do with Elliott's diagnosis if I was Ron Hextall

This is why he gets the big bucks. I don't know what I would do

Rewatch the games Lyon played then gladly move a 4th for any goalie with a half decent NHL track record.

Bill,

why does it seem the refs are changing the way they call the games. Just so many missed calls, Someone took Simmonds legs out and then a Flyer took down a Devil, they call Simmonds and not the Devil?

then they seem to put their whistle away in the later half of the 2nd and 3rd, which always benefits the team trailing. very inconsistent

Nuevy way inconsistent. With the extra man against the Flyers are clueless. I thought it was a game the Flyers were the better team.

Pretty candid interview by Hexy. I think he does bring another competent nhl goalie in for a mid rounder. Chad Johnson or something.

My Game Observations:

- Neuvirth has to make the save on the first Hall goal. He didn't cost them the game but that save needs to be made.

- Provorov had a tough game.

- Just a lot of sloppy play in their own zone. Not sure if that was to fatigue or just a bad night.

- I know it's a novelty part of the game but the Flyers need to find a way to score in the shootout. Other teams make it look so easy some times.

On a positive note last night was the best I have heard the crowd all season, and the Flyers played an awesome game, and a physical one to boot. They should have won.

Now on the negative side.... They need help. They need a goalie that can challenge Nuevirth for starting... Johnson, Lehner, etc. They need to break up Manning and Gudas... whether its Sanheim, Morin, or someone in a trade... And the need to do something with the legion of gloom... Lehtera, Weise, Filppula... Outside of that they actually can contend....

Hall on the hit by Gudas "I thought it was a clean hit, I have to do a better job of protecting myself"

class comment.

I have no confidence in Neuvirth as a starter and they owe it to their core players to go out and get a better option. Be it Lehner, Mrazek or whomever, a move needs to be made!

still 5 points out of 6 with the travel and schedule, pretty good. I believe the Flyers would beat the Devils in a playoff series and that was never the norm

I’m not sure they beat anyone with Neuvirth in goal. He’s so damned inconsistent.

Some quick thoughts since I haven't posted in a while and I know you're all dying to hear from me

1. They probably outplayed the Devils last night, but deserved their fate with their horrendous D zone coverage all night.

2. Neuvirth needs to calm the (frank) down in net. He was all over the place

3. I hope the Elliot injury spurs the Flyers to reconsider their goalie usage. I believe this is the 4th straight season the starter has missed significant time. They need to be better at giving the starters proper rest. Fatigue is often the cause of injury and playing the starter so many games in row has likely contributed to these injury problems.

4. The Manning-Gudas pairing has been a mess lately. I'm sure people have complained enough about Sanheim being in LHV, but watching Manning when I know there is a better option is just painful.

5. I really hope the Flyers give their young guys an opportunity rather than trade for vets at the deadline. I truly believe there is some major upgrades available to them in the minors if they just get the chance.

6. Would really like to see the Flyers take a renewed approach to shootouts. It's such a stupid thing, but they can't keep giving away points every season.

I didnt have a big problem with the way it was officiated. I’d rather they let them play than anything else

Kings get rid of a useless player who is declining and maybe a 3rd/4th line center for Phaneuf and Thompson while also getting Ottawa to retain some money.

Phaneuf could be great addition as a 2nd pairing guy.

They are too result based in their thinking when it comes to goalies. Won 4 games in a row but he gave up 4? Still won the game he’s hot keep him in. They absolutely rode Elliott too hard this year and had this coming

I doubt its Chad Johnson. Buffalo wants to move Lehner for a bigger return. They can't trade both of them.

I think it will be Mrazek. Hell, I could even see us getting Pavelec from the Rangers on the cheap.

It's not just looking at the results though. Even if a guy notches a shutout in the front half of a b2b in November, they still need to roll with the backup for the next game. It's about having discipline and trusting your backup.

There are a dozen goaltenders in the NHL who have played more minutes than Elliott has. He suffered some kind of muscle abdominal injury. Likely is the key word. It's just as likely that his usage had nothing to do with the injury.
